Wychwood CE Primary School
Last term we were treated to an excellent performance of Jonah- A Fishy Tale by the children in Years 3 and 4. Parents and pupils were very impressed with the singing, dancing and acting. Not only did the children perform, they also wrote some of the parts, choreographed some of the dances and designed the set. It was lovely to see the children having so much fun. Our thanks go to all the teaching staff for their hard work and late nights in supporting this fantastic show.
Chipping Norton Music Festival
Last month we took part in this event. Our choir sang three songs at the festival and lifted the entire show; they were brilliant! They performed with confidence and great enjoyment. It was a proud moment for all of us. A big well done also to the children taking part in the Speech and Drama activities at the festival. We had 12 children participating, standing on the stage and performing a verse they had memorised. We would like to congratulate Oliver P, Phoebe B, Oliver B, Isabella, Iris, Esther, Taylor S and Jess for taking part. A special mention goes to Ava K, Eva S, Nadia and Alex who received Highly Commended certificates for their performances. Our thanks go to Mrs Scates who helped the children prepare for the event.
Charity Fundraising
For Sports Relief children were sponsored to take part in a new sport/game. These included traditional Maori gamesTapu, Ti-Uru and Whanowhano. We were so pleased that we collected £850 in sponsorship money.
Year 3 and 4 Cross Country
Our girls cross country runners did themselves and the school proud by winning the Oxfordshire competition. They shared their success with the school today in assembly and it was lovely to hear how much it meant to them. Well done to Annabel, Tessa, Katie, Eva, Maya, Ava, Frankie and Issy the champions of Oxfordshire!
Big Science
During the term children worked in groups to construct science investigations. The best selected from each class then showcased their idea to the rest of the school. Three groups were selected to take their questions forward to Science Oxford. Congratulations to Aisling, Libby, Luca, Theo, Sophia and Martha who asked ‘Which drink is the fizziest?’ Also to Alex and Isabella who asked ‘Which flower sucks up the most water?’ And finally to Francesca, Mia and Daisy who asked ‘Which liquid does a grape sink fastest in?’.
